In recent years, the demand for smaller tomatoes, and especially grape tomatoes, has increased exponentially. Seed companies are adapting to this trend, and Italy's Southern Seed is no exception, according to Fabio Carnemolla, technician at the company based in Vittoria, in the province of Ragusa.
Fabio Carnemolla
"We are meeting the demands of the cultivation and consumer market with a new product called Datterì F1. It is an attractive grape tomato, visually striking for its distinctive intense red color and regularity of shape. But what makes this variety unique is its exceptional flavor with a high brix value and an excellent balance of sweetness and acidity."
Datterì F1
"Datterì F1 is also very satisfactory from an agronomic point of view, since it adapts perfectly to the most diverse agro-ecological conditions. This variety can also be grown out of season for both long and short cycles, both in soil and in substrate. Finally, the long cultivation period, excellent yield, long shelf life and wide spectrum of resistances to phytopathologies of this tomato make Datterì F1 a variety of premium quality that can fully meet all expectations."
Datterì F1 on the plant
"Datterì F1 is a rustic and easy to manage plant, with good vegetative vigor and good leaf coverage. The clusters are long and regular, even in the higher stages, with a strong stem and the tomatoes are well distributed. The tomato has firm, crisp and tasty flesh and weighs 16-18 grams on average."
The tomato is resistant to HR: Fol 1-2; ToMV; IR: TYLCV; Ma, Mi, Mj.
