A line suitable for delicate produce

Efficiency, swiftness, versatility, easy maintenance and gentleness: this is what is requested of vegetable graders, especially when it comes to zucchini. Giovanni Milana's Biorto Ibleo, located in Ispica (Ragusa), has chosen Calibra V by Bulltec, a water-fed zucchini line with a 2-channel electronic grader and 10 + 1 outlets.

"This grader is made up of a simple belt, which can be replaced by a modular one if needed, leading the vegetables to the sorting area. This method enables to process wet produce as well, as the water is dispersed during transport. All the maintenance required is just a periodic check of the belt tension. The Bulltec electronic scanner identifies the characteristics of the vegetables and sends them to the right channels swiftly and precisely. The expulsion system is equipped with special gaskets that gently direct the produce to the collection channels," explains Bulltec manager Ruggero Ricci.

The expulsion speed and strength can be easily adjusted to better adapt to the various types of vegetables. The autonomy of the transport system minimizes the risk of mechanical faults. Calibra-V perfectly adapts to the needs of producers who must take care of the sorting of various types of vegetables in a single day.

The transport and expulsion system is suitable for all types of products, reducing downtime to a minimum.

Calibra-V is flexible and can be integrated with a pre-existing system or used to set up and entire processing line from unloading in washing tanks to packaging.

"The produce is deposited in a washing tank where a hydraulic pump leads the vegetables to a compact sorting vibrating platform. Here, operators discard unsuitable vegetables placing them in the central lane leading to collection crates or bins. The suitable produce continues to be sorted in dedicated boxes. After this process, vegetables are placed in crates or boxes then sorted by operators."
