Dr. Lippert Digital: e-Campus as a digital training platform

"Flexible, modern tools for continuing education and quality control"

The daily handling of fruit and vegetables as well as the constantly growing demands on quality and preparation of the goods regularly present employees in all areas of the fruit trade with major challenges. How must a defect be assessed? What does the standard say and what does the customer say? How is produce grown, packaged and transported, and what impact does this have on shelf life? These are questions that have to be faced on a daily basis - because fruit and vegetables are highly demanding. Improvements can only be achieved with the necessary knowledge and safe handling of the individual items.

Dr. Lippert Consulting, a company of the Dr. Lippert QM Group, has been supporting companies and their employees throughout the O&G industry for 20 years by providing practical knowledge.
Proven fruit and vegetable experts conduct 'on-the-job' training in warehouses and packing plants, as well as customized in-house seminars for inspectors, buyers and sellers, and QM staff.

Efficient quality assurance
"A key feature of our training and continuing education concepts is always their practical relevance. Through our daily inspections of goods in warehouses and distribution centers, expert opinions as well as process controls at producer companies, we always have 'fresh' information and know what we are talking about. What we train is not just theoretical facts - it is rather that we always share our years of experience with our customers," Dr. Felix Lippert explains.

In order to ensure that product knowledge is continuously conveyed and can be incorporated into daily work, training should be provided on a regular basis, as well as quizzed. "Due to Corona, there were also restrictions for us, which made it difficult to hold face-to-face events in particular. But especially in the current situation, the training and further education of employees is an elementary component in order to enable and maintain efficient quality assurance of increasing flows of goods," Dr. Lippert continues.

In order to continue offering training programs in the usual style, i.e. from practice for practice, Dr. Lippert Digital was launched. "Our digital platform, which provides the industry with flexible, modern tools for continuing education and quality control," says Dr. Felix Lippert.

Customized training concepts
At the heart of the platform is the Dr. Lippert e-Campus. In addition to a seasonal live webinar calendar focused on fruit and vegetables, new (digital) training concepts are continuously developed and presented here. Interested parties can also put together and request their own training packages and combinations according to their wishes.

In addition to live webinars with Dr. Lippert product specialists, the developers have also been working on a special O&G e-learning program in recent months. The difference to the live webinars is that users can consume training material absolutely flexibly and at any time, so that the training can be integrated into the daily work routine (important e.g. for companies with shift or night work). This increases both receptivity and motivation.

Simple and self-explanatory
Dr. Lippert: "Our e-learning materials are designed to be simple and self-explanatory, so that even personnel with little experience or employees unfamiliar with the subject can quickly access important product knowledge. Each e-learning course also ends with a knowledge test. This enables supervisors, for example, to monitor employees' learning progress and compensate for knowledge gaps in a targeted manner."

Special software is used for the digital e-Campus training formats (live webinars and e-learning), which also enables interaction with participants and users. For example, live webinars incorporate participant surveys, and e-learning courses offer the option of expert surveys. "Support with state-of-the-art software provides our experts with optimal means of interacting with participants and involving them in training courses. Our experience from the last six months shows that this makes participants much more attentive, receptive and ultimately more motivated throughout the entire duration of the event - we can convey our broad know-how on all fruit and vegetable products in such a targeted manner," says e-Campus Manager Philipp Loer.

Digital knowledge transfer
Dr. Lippert Digital was not only developed in response to the Corona pandemic. In the future, digital knowledge transfer will continue to be an important tool for reaching a broad group of participants flexibly and without major effort and expense.

The professional handling of fruit and vegetables will be of decisive importance in order to successfully master this product group and position it successfully on the market. The basis for safe handling of these highly sensitive items is regularly refreshed product knowledge.
