Former banker started up his own strawberry greenhouse in Turkey and exports to 4 countries

Gokhan Ucar, who quit his banking profession due to his busy pace of work, became curious about the soilless cultivation of strawberries produced in Antalya and Mersin. When traveling with his family, he saw the production area and became interested in growing strawberries.

With the help of his engineer friends, Ucar decided to establish a soilless and storied strawberry greenhouse on his land in Serefoglu District. There, he planted 235,000 strawberry seedlings on an area of 1.1 hectares of greenhouse and then started to grow strawberries. The grower is now exporting his strawberries to countries such as Bulgaria, Romania, Kuwait, and Qatar. Ucar enjoys getting away from stressful city life and dedicating his time to agricultural production.

Ucar said that the climate of Kahramanmaras is suitable for growing strawberries and he is happy that his products are in demand.
Stating that 20 people worked in the greenhouse he established, Ucar said, "We have harvested 30 tons of product so far. Our expectation is to produce 150 tons by the end of the year".
