At the end of this year, Schenkeveld wants to plant tomato plants in the third greenhouse at Schenkeveld Schiphol. Schenkeveld is building a 44-hectare greenhouse complex in Rijsenhout. Greenhouse South is currently being built. Greenhouse West will follow in 2022, which will complete the entire project, which includes a cloverleaf construction.
The choice was made to use the processing, heating and water space as the center of the company, surrounded by four greenhouses of 11 hectares each. A greenhouse in every direction. Greenhouse North and Greenhouse East were built a few years ago. This year, greenhouse South will be built, after which, in 2022, greenhouse West will complete the project.

Unilluminated
The greenhouse, which is being built by Kubo, will be equipped with the latest techniques. When the purchase of the land was signed for last year, it was not yet known whether the greenhouse would be illuminated or not. Richard Hartensveld said at the time that it was 'an option' and that there was still time to choose.
The growers have now opted for an unilluminated greenhouse with a Technokas dehumidification system. Because there are no lights in the greenhouse, a different type of screen cloth is used. The screen installation, for which PDI will provide, will be equipped with a screen cloth that is very transparent and therefore allows a lot of light to pass through. That way, the canvas can also remain closed on a cold day.
Updates
The growers themselves are maintaining a website with updates during construction. It shows all construction partners and updates are shared here. The growers like to work with permanent partners. Most suppliers for this new phase are therefore the same as at the start of the project.
Not everything has been outsourced yet. A decision has yet to be made on parts related to internal transport, pipe rail trolleys and the path registration system.
