During a phytosanitary inspection of some 8.39 tons of imported tomatoes from Turkey, officials found the regulated quarantine organism that is known as the South American tomato moth (Tuta absoluta).
The inspection of wooden packaging material also revealed violations of IFR No. 15 “Guidelines for the regulation of wood packaging materials in international trade,” namely the lack of labelling. Measures have been taken in regards to the unmarked packaging material with destruction under the control of a state phytosanitary inspector.
