These two new events aimed at the fastest growing sector of the fresh produce industry will take place at The Lincolnshire Showground on 4 November.
Launched by the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC), in association with the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology (LIAT), the two events, FPC Future and FPC Careers, will be co-located. FPC Future houses an exhibition, conference, working displays and tours of the University’s specialist facilities at its Riseholme Campus whilst FPC Careers will promote careers in fresh produce, cut flowers and related services to undergraduates and postgraduates from all disciplines and showcase the great opportunities that exist in horticulture.
Both events have lots of content. FPC Future features eight conference streams from robotics and automation to data-driven technologies, from sustainability to protected cropping and from supply chain waste to carbon supply chains. There will also be working displays and tours of the University of Lincoln’s Riseholme Campus facilities. FPC Careers will include a CV Clinic for visitors and mentors on hand to give advice to entrants to the industry.
Nigel Jenney, CEO at FPC commented “The UK Horticultural industry is a sector hungry to fast track agritech adoption. The sector is rapidly evolving therefore it’s a great opportunity for suppliers to showcase their world-leading innovations to a diverse and progressive industry. At the same time FPC Careers will showcase the huge benefits and opportunities that the sector can offer talented young people who may not have considered a career in horticulture.
