Climalux recently introduced its new LED top light CLX V1000. On 18 February, the advantages of the new fixtures, results from practical research and application in Next Generation Growing were discussed, among others, during an online knowledge event. Besides the people from Climalux, Ary De Jong of HortiTech and Vincent van der Lans, tomato grower for Lans, also spoke.
During the one-hour event, the viewer was introduced to the LED grow light, which increases production by using the sun's daylight spectrum with substantially less energy.
The first to speak was Ary De Jong of research company HortiTech, who in an in-depth interview explained more about the ongoing field studies in cucumber and tomato cultivation. He went deeper into the changing ways of cultivating under these LED fixtures, but especially emphasized the benefits they bring.
Grower Vincent van der Lans of Lans also spoke. He was very involved and followed the trials closely. He shared his positive experience and insights in regard to the use of the CLX V1000 in both the test set-up at the World Horti Center and in his own greenhouse. "Cultivation is different, because the crop grows more naturally than under the SON-T, because the sun is replicated in the lamp.”
Own rules
After this first introduction to the new top light, Walter Kleijweg from Pliant gave a presentation in which the possibilities of the central control of the Climalux fixtures were explained. “The controller allows you to set your own rules and ensure that the system responds when it is needed. This can make a huge contribution to the company's yield.”
Finally, Frans van der Let of Climalux took the stage, where he once again explained the most important technical specifications and went through the installation of these fixtures in four steps.
