Fresh produce can ‘trade smarter’ through the release of the industry’s online marketplace. ProduceIQ is a business-to-business platform for qualified growers and buyers to negotiate directly. The marketplace provides opportunities to transact with new trading partners in an efficient and safe trading environment. Since its recent launch, users from more than 150 companies have registered to participate, a robust start for an industry historically slow to embrace the digital transformation.
For buyers, ProduceIQ provides an additional avenue to connect and find new opportunities with dependable food-safe growers. For growers, the marketplace provides access to a network of customers without the need for previously established relationships. All participants will have an additional channel for negotiations, access to live inventory and real-time market insights.

“The shutdown of restaurants exposed how vulnerable growers are to a lack of customer diversity. Retail and foodservice customers alike depend on the survival of their vendors. Though agriculture is slow to the digital transformation, the tide has now turned and the need for an additional sales channel is clear,” said Mark Campbell, CEO and cofounder of ProduceIQ.
In addition to the release of the Marketplace, ProduceIQ teamed up with Blue Book Services to publicize market news and a shipping-point price index. The ProduceIQ Index helps growers and buyers with decision making by analyzing the price and volume movements of the top 40 produce commodities. The company also launched an additional free tool, Trends, which provides users with the ability to slice, dice and visualize market price data.
ProduceIQ will continue to roll out tools for the fresh produce industry.
