523 million kilos for 799 million euro

Spain imported a record number of Moroccan fruits and vegetables in 2020

Spanish purchases of Moroccan fruit and vegetables have increased by 248.27% in the last ten years. According to data from Hortoinfo based on information from the Euroestacom statistical service (Icex-Eurostat), in 2020 Spanish purchased 523.39 million kilos of Moroccan fruit and vegetables for a value of 798.76 million euro, i.e. 14.65% more than in the previous year. This figure, the highest reached to date, constitutes a historical record in Spanish purchases of Moroccan fruit and vegetables.

In total, Spain purchased 267.3 million kilos of vegetables worth 313.76 million euro, and 256.09 million kilos of fruit worth 798.76 million euro.

Main products
The main import product was the watermelon with 88.51 million kilos, worth 51.41 million euro, and an average price of € 0.58/kg.

It was followed by tomatoes with a total of 77.25 million kilos, 77.87 million euro, and an average price of € 1.01/kg.

Peppers ranked third with 63.23 million kilos worth 61.32 million euro, and an average price of € 0.97/kg.

Orange ranked fourth with 44.15 million kilos worth 32.08 million euro, and an average price of € 0.73/kg.

The fifth most imported product was the raspberry with 29.54 million kilos worth 165.02 million euro, and an average price of € 5.586/kg.
