The first flowers of young courgette plants are blooming profusely today and bumblebees are flying around at courgette grower CourgetteFleur Zwinkels. "It is a beautiful sight, that makes us happy," says grower Johan, who planted a week earlier for this season. "We have decided to make the season as long as possible, in order to be able to catch the good periods to come. And those good periods are not so easy to predict in this special time."
Just like 2020, it promises to be another year with major challenges. But one thing is certain, says Johan. "If the catering industry is allowed to open its doors again, then we will be ready and we can deliver everything that is ordered until the end of November."
All CourgetteFleur Zwinkels products are GlobalGAP and Grasp and PlanetProof certified. They are available in different packaging and provided with a bar and QR code.
The courgette flower is only harvested by the grower to order, to ensure to deliver the freshest possible product. The fresher the product, the better the end result on the plate. The flowers bloom once, in the morning, and only then can they be harvested.
The green courgette flower is now available. From February 1, the Fioretta, yellow courgette flower, and the green and yellow mini courgette will be available again. "Real Dutch produce. All our products are grown with maximum organic effort so that we can deliver a beautiful, clean and fair product.
