The Spanish company Horticola Guadalfeo's Marazul tomato is a three-time winner. It's been certified by 'Sabor del año (Flavor of the Year) for three years running. This institute tests products. An 80-person consumer panel considers products' flavor, smell, texture, and general satisfaction. "This year, the Cherokee variety, too, received this certificate," says Ellen van Kester. "It confirms it for us - both the Marazul and the Cherokee meet the highest quality requirements." Both products are exclusively available at Guadalfeo.
"This month's cold weather affected our production too. We're getting smaller quantities. The temperatures weren't as low here on the coast as in other parts of Spain. But it still sometimes dropped to 4°C at night. That makes the tomatoes ripen much slower. We had delivery problems to our clients too. That's because the roads were blocked. But everything has stabilized again," concludes Ellen.
