Greenhouse workers exempt from Covid19 restrictions in Antalya, Turkey

Antalya is an important place for greenhouse production in Turkey and the greenhouse production continues uninterrupted as greenhouse workers in Antalya are exempt from restrictions. The greenhouse workers are working during the epidemic whilst wearing masks and gloves in greenhouses.

Havva Mert, who works in the greenhouse, stated that they have been farming as a family for years and that they have been producing in greenhouses every period.

Observing that the yield is good this year, Havva Mert said, "We come early in the morning and take care of our products as if caring for a baby. We are in greenhouses, in the fields for our citizens who stay at home due to the restrictions."

Mustafa Mert, who grows capia peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, and lettuce in his greenhouse of 1 hectare, said that they are working in order not to disrupt the food supply chain during the Covid19 outbreak.

Stating that they spend most of the day caring for the products, Mustafa Mert said, "There is a restriction, but the production does not stop. We are constantly working to meet the needs. We are exempted from the restriction. Let our citizens stay at home and we will continue to grow healthy products for them."
