One of the main challenges that most farmers in Kenya face today is the lack of correct information which helps them make better decisions regarding their harvest dates, production cost as well as the amount of yield produced. Due to this, they experience major losses annually that can be easily avoided.
Lima Labs, an AI-technology company, aims to address this challenge by providing Kenyan farmers with a machine vision system with the hope of making agriculture smarter and more predictable.
He adds that the system is able to process and automate the entire data collection process and through this, the farmer is able to identify up to 7 suitable harvest days.
In most cases, farmers tend to constantly worry about how much they can sell their produce, how many crops they will harvest and the cost production due to uncertainties and lack of proper details given the unpredictable weather changes in the country. “We noticed how farmers were really lacking the correct information to help them make decisions and so we want to empower farmers with data driven information through Lima,” says Jasper.
