163 Andalusian agricultural producers to benefit from aid for the modernization of greenhouses

The Council of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of the Spanish region of Andalusia has approved the granting of government support for the replacement of old greenhouses with modern and more productive versions with better ventilation capacity and more efficient energy consumption.

In total, the Council will allocate more than 10.92 million Euro for the modernization of facilities, which will allow a total investment of more than 23.22 million Euro. It will be possible to cover all the requests that meet the requirements for the aid to be granted.

In total, there will be 163 beneficiaries of these subsidies, 158 of which –97% of the total– are from Almería. It is worth highlighting the fact that 30% of these farms are owned by women, although also that in 22 of them the owner is not a natural person, but a legal person.

In the framework of the Andalusian Rural Development Program 2014-2020 (PDR), this line of subsidies covers up to 50% of the investment; a contribution that can even be increased depending on certain circumstances, such as the age of the producers.
