The public consultation launched by the European Commission to hear the opinion of citizens and interested parties on the policy for the promotion of agricultural products in the EU is concluding on the 11th. This consultation is part of the evaluation process that the Commission has been carrying out since 2018.
The consultation, launched on May 8, aims to collect opinions on the effectiveness and relevance of the current measures, as well as on their coherence with EU action in other areas and the added value of implementing this policy at EU level.
The evaluation process of the EU agricultural product promotion system started some time ago with a roadmap proposed by the EC in 2018. The evaluation report has been commissioned to an external consultant and, at the same time, a public consultation has been called. The prospect is that a report on analyzes and proposals will be ready in the last quarter of this year.
In November 2019, the Commission also proposed a survey on the agricultural promotion policy, both in the internal market and in third countries. This survey is part of the study commissioned by the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development to Deloitte, Coffey and Ipsos.
FEPEX believes that the European Commission's promotion policy in the internal market and in third countries, based mainly on co-financing three-year promotion programs and trade missions to these countries, is an important support instrument for agriculture in the EU.
