Spain believes spread of coronavirus among seasonal workers is under control

The president of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has said during a press conference held after a Council of Ministers that he believes that the spreading of the coronavirus between seasonal workers in the agricultural sector is under control; an achievement that he has attributed to the "coordination" between the Executive and the autonomous regions.

“The outbreak among seasonal workers is under control, even though this was a subject of public debate in the media until only a few weeks ago. And it has not happened by chance, but because we have acted effectively,” said the president, who has used this as an example of success in acting against outbreaks.

The president has praised the work carried out by the Ministries of Health and Agriculture together with the regional councils, which recently held a new meeting to look into the prevention work to be carried out ahead of other agricultural campaigns, such as the grape harvest.

For their part, the Minister for Health, Salvador Illa, and the Minister for Agriculture, Luis Planas, have asked their regional counterparts "not to lower their guard" in order to prevent new outbreaks.
