On August 18, the Government of Andalusia published the resolution of the Unified Environmental Authorization for the execution of an Intensive Agricultural Exploitation Project in the municipality of Almería, which has been promoted by the cooperative COPROHNIJAR, SCA.
This project entails setting up a farm for the intensive cultivation of greenhouse vegetables, although with some limitations. As stated in the document, there will be 30 greenhouses with a surface totaling 273,282 m². There will also be 11 waterproofed ponds for the regulation of irrigation and rainwater storage, with a total capacity of 19,031 m³; a drainage basin with a volume of 3,292 m³ for the reception and natural drainage of rainwater, which will act as a drainage well and allow the natural refilling of the aquifers in use at the farm; 11 warehouses linked to the agricultural exploitation, one for each cultivation unit (11), representing a total built area of 1,680 m²; and subsidiary facilities for irrigation, gutters to evacuate rainwater and condensation, access and internal roads, and collection and storage points for waste from each crop unit.
The farm has a total area of approximately 320,000 m² and is located in the Haza la Reina area, in the municipality of Almería.
