When the sun shines crops grow more quickly while bumblebees thrive in the high light levels. However, when temperatures climb above 26°C the bumblebee brood inside the hive starts heating up. In a bid to cool the brood down, bumblebees tend to increasingly stay inside the hive – impacting on pollination rates.
To help our bumblebees cool down in hot weather, Biobest hives have lids featuring an integrated ventilation system. So, please don’t forget to open the ventilation when temperatures start to soar in the sunshine.
