At the peak of this Scottish strawberry season, many thousands of free punnets of strawberries will be delivered to households across Scotland this week.
AVA Berries and McQueens Dairies are set to team up to deliver punnets of premium Scottish strawberries to homes across the central belt and Fife. They want to celebrate what would have been the beginning of the Wimbledon fortnight.
Strawberries and cream have been enjoyed at the tournament for more than 140 years, since Wimbledon was launched in 1877. Despite the tournament not going ahead this year, some of its most famous matches are set to be screened by the BBC, inspiring the nation to pick up their rackets again.
On the partnership, Jill Witheyman, marketing manager at AVA Berries, commented: “Strawberries and cream and the summer tennis season go hand in hand, and although the Wimbledon tournament sadly isn’t going ahead this year, we still wanted to do something to celebrate it and bring a smile to people’s faces.
