Summer vegetables: courgette and cucumber in the spotlight

The campaign of summer vegetables has been going on for a while at the Italian company F.lli Napolitano, whose fields are in full operation.

"The dark courgette is a product that we propose every year and that performs very well on the internal market. The campaign began a few days ago with the product grown in Battipaglia (SA), then the harvest will continue in the Lucan area (Basilicata), where the climate is cooler and there is a lower presence of virus-carrying insects. Finally, for the late cycle that lasts until the beginning of October, we will work with local products from the Agro-Nocerino area in Sarnese. This year the courgette fields have been increased by 25%, a production which now involves 20 hectares and a total offer of about 200 tons". So stated Gennaro Napolitano, of the F.lli Napolitano company.

"We offer different processes and different packaging solutions for the courgette, according to the customer's requests. The courgette is calibrated and selected according to the diameter and length. As for the packaging, 30x40 or 40x60 packs are available in various materials".

The dark eggplant and the yellow and red peppers are the classic summer vegetables produced and marketed by the F.lli Napolitano company. These products have been on the market since mid-May. Their cultivation as well takes place in protected environment.

"The cucumber campaign started at the beginning of June and, following the excellent commercial response received last year, we doubled its volumes and surfaces. The cucumber is grown under a greenhouse to ensure production continuity from June to September".

For the F.lli Napolitano company guaranteeing product quality is the main concern, so much so that the offer always includes products with high quality standards. Customer protection, by offering healthy food, and compliance with the regulations on agrochemicals and fertilizers are the basis of the company's mission.

"Currently - Napolitano continues - the trend of seasonal vegetables is in line with the past. We are doing well thanks to the relationships of trust that we have consolidated over the years with Italian retailers".

The innovations at F.lli Napolitano are not lacking, so much so that: "We have improved the processing of netted melon and of baby watermelons by introducing a new machine that brushes, selects and calibrates them".

"Another novelty is the experimentation of a variety of the mini cantaloupe, of the long life type, which has a greater shelf life and a size between 500 and 600 gr."

At the moment the company offer is very varied and also includes salad tomatoes and fennel. See you next month for more updates!
