GrowSoil Substrates Private Limited is a fully owned Sri Lankan company with over 14 years of experience in the manufacturing & supply of high quality, bio-degradable cocopeat-based growing medium for hydroponic cultivation. Srinath Perera is the company's Managing Director and Technical Advisor and he talks about the products and the team.
The coir-based, eco-friendly GrowSoil Coco Substrate is exported to farmers and horticulturists in over 20 countries around the world, including the US, Mexico, Canada, Peru, Japan, Korea, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Armenia, Mauritius, Iran, Italy, South Africa, Croatia, China and Reunion.
The advantage of the products is that they are custom-made to the grower's own requirements. "We are constantly researching and improving products to suit our clients' needs." One of the latest in-demand products is GrowSoil Smart (GSS), originally introduced in 2008 as GrowSoil Base (GSB). GSS is an advanced version of GSB.
"Growers who use it are very satisfied. GSS is very climate-friendly and easy to manage. It gives a high yield and lasts very long, so it's good for the economy, too. The products are carried in bio-degradable plastics, which at the end of use can be disposed in anaerobic bio-degradation."
"We have an experienced, quality conscious team, whose attention to detail and hygiene is paramount. As safety comes first, they keep abreast of all health requirements. Our highly skilled team constantly monitor and upgrade the standards of all our coir-based products and are strict on environmentally friendly practices."
"Throughout the pandemic, our team has maintained all safety first precautionary measures and kept to the strict guidelines of our Health Ministry, taking extra care of our workers throughout. Hence, even now we are prepared to meet growers' immediate needs as promptly as the situation permits."
History and future
Srinath is confident that farmers around the world could benefit from GSS. He has over 25 years of experience in the field, which enabled him to develop the product to the satisfaction of growers and farmers in different climatic zones. During this research, he has derived a lot of experience from Holland, France and Israel.
"Our coco substrates' technical properties are adjusted to meet a grower's own individual requirements. We are committed to ensuring our customers get a high degree of satisfaction using our eco-friendly products. We supply a high quality product that is a 'nearest to nature' substitute for actual soil for agriculture and horticulture. With the future in mind, we plan to open up an office overseas, starting in the US, to increase the accessibility in that region."
