Heavy storm causes 60,000 USD worth of damage to greenhouses in Demre, Turkey

A heavy storm has damaged 6.3 hectares of greenhouses owned by 49 growers in the Demre district of Antalya. The estimated loss from the storm is reported to be around 650,000 USD.

The speed of the storm has surpassed 100 kilometers and caused extensive damage to greenhouses. 1.1 hectare of greenhouses owned by 3 growers collapsed completely whereas 5.2 hectares of greenhouses have sustained tears and damages in its greenhouse nylon covers. 90% of the damaged greenhouses were used for Capia pepper production. 13 out of the 49 growers had insured their greenhouses and will be able to receive payment to repair their greenhouses.
