First webinar on "vertical farming" in Spain

The first webinar in Spanish on protected vertical cultivation will take place on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. It will be held from real vertical farming facilities which are currently in production.

Vertical protected farming systems are a new trend in agriculture, and the event will serve to outline their characteristics and benefits, including issues related to the management and profitability of crops grown with this technology. The revolution of this new type of agriculture lies in its characteristics in terms of productivity and in its space, water and energy savings, which meet current and future needs, given how much the demand for food is expected to increase. In the next 30 years, estimations point to the population growing by more than 2 billion people, with the total reaching 9.7 billion people by 2050.

Various topics will be addressed, from the current context of vertical cultivation to the management of vertical farming systems. The technologies that allow the development of this type of agriculture, such as lighting, climate or irrigation systems, will also play a central role. The webinar will also have a Q&A.

Novagric engineers José Manuel Sánchez and Ismael Salar, responsible for the development of the facilities from which the webinar will be transmitted, will be in charge of explaining the key aspects of protected vertical agriculture. Alfonso González, coordinator of Etifa, the entity that organizes this webinar, will act as moderator.

The webinar, which will last one and a half hours, will be held at 17.00 p.m. on June 17 (Europe/Madrid time zone).

Places are limited to 100 attendees. Attendance is free and registration is carried out on the website of the organizer, Etifa.
