Lucie Langlade, Sélection Fruits:

"It is a calm week for red fruits"

“The demand for red fruits is rather low this week,” reports Lucie Langlade of Sélection Fruits. The company is based in the French department of Dordogne and markets red fruits from different origins. All red fruits are affected by the lack of demand: raspberries - key product of the company - blackberries, redcurrants and blueberries.

“The coronavirus certainly did not have a positive impact on consumption. We hope that the reopening of restaurants will soon make the market more dynamic,” adds Lucie. Many of the company’s clients are restaurants.

As for blueberries, a product progressively gaining ground on the French market, Lucie indicates that large volumes are available at the moment, “maybe even a bit more than the demand.”

Sélection Fruits started marketing the French production, but the company also offers raspberries and blueberries from Portugal and Spain. “We truly are in a period of transformation. Our clients are just now turning to the French product.”
