Three employees at a south end farm were potentially exposed to chemicals Sunday afternoon. According to a news release from the Guelph Fire Department, firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of a woman having respiratory issues due to a possible chemical exposure at GoodLeaf Farms, a vertical farming operation at 35 Cooper Drive, shortly after 1:30 p.m. on May 31.
When they arrived, there were three employees from GoodLeaf in front of the building, "complaining of headaches, and respiratory issues. Firefighters immediately had all employees evacuate the building while paramedics attended to the medical needs of the three staff affected," according to the news release. The fire department's Hazardous Materials Unit arrived on scene, and firefighters went inside to take a number of air quality readings.
