The President of the Russian Federation has conducted a video conference on the situation in the agricultural industry as well as in food production. Agriculture in Russia today is a high tech industry with good potential for development, considers Mr. Putin; however, the competitive side of the agricultural sphere should be constantly enhanced.
Growers should be supported
The Russian Federation fully meets domestic demand in food products, meanwhile conquering international markets. However, the pandemic situation of 2020 presented new challenges to the world economy. Russia anticipates certain revenue loss related risks in the agricultural sphere; therefore it is especially important to support the growers in the current situation in order to assist them in purchasing fuel and raw materials.
Small production facilities and growers are in special need of support. For them, any changes in the market can have quite significant consequences.
National food security
During the conference, Vladimir Putin set the task to maintain the growth dynamics of the national agricultural sector. For that, stable cooperation among the participants should be established and the growers should have assurance in the coming days. In addition, new areas for development should be found.
“We have to establish full provision of the local market and evaluate if we should use the possibilities opening for our companies, including those of product export, of course”, underlined the President.
