This week a local team of Metazet Formflex has started the installation of the Laixi project. This is a 12 ha high tech greenhouse in the province Shandong, China. Due to travelling restrictions it is impossible to bring in the engineers from Holland. Luckily they have a local team which can arrange the roll forming of the growing gutters on site. In this way they can make sure the planning is not influenced by the current COVID-19 crisis and can give the best support to their customer China Triumph International Engineering Co., Ltd.
Local team
“We started training our own Chinese team of engineers five years ago. It was not an easy task to run all the projects independently with Metazet FormFlex quality. After a long period of training in the Netherlands and China, and producing more than 1,000 km of growing gutters, our local team can now complete all projects independently. As a result, we have become much more flexible and our schedule is much more secure in this difficult period. This means we can offer the highest level of support to both the greenhouse builder and the end customers,” says Eelco Wolthuizen about the course they have taken to achieve the local team's goal and the ensuing benefits.
Local production
According to Eelco, having their own production department in China also has major advantages at a time when lockdowns are imposed everywhere. “Because we have our own production department here, we can still easily liaise with other parties during a possible lockdown or problems with container transport in order to solve any production problems. This flexibility has already proved its effectiveness several times.”
COVID-19 in China
Due to the global COVID-19 outbreak, it will become increasingly difficult over the next couple of months to get Dutch engineers to carry out the projects in China. Due to the improved situation in China but the deteriorated situation in Europe and America, China has closed its borders. Flights have been cancelled and China is currently not allowing any foreigners into the country.
