total acreage of 26 hectares

Another merger in Dutch greenhouse industry

Kwekerij Rimato and Oussoren Trostomaten will continue together under the name Roots. The uniting of the two tomato nurseries results in a new company with a total acreage of 26 hectares.

As every grower knows, everything starts with good roots. With their merger, both companies provide a good foundation to grow further together from a new organization.

Joining forces
Kwekerij Rimato is located in Honselersdijk and grows vine cherry tomatoes. Oussoren Trostomaten is located in Zevenhuizen and grows large vine tomatoes. "Three years ago we once met for coffee to discuss cooperation, but then something else came up. But last year we sat down again with this as a result," says Stefan Oussoren.

According to the merger partners, the merger creates a robust organization in which professionalism increases. Moreover, the joining of forces creates a new challenge for the board members and employees.

Five-person management
Richard, Marcel and Luc van der Knaap, together with Jasper and Stefan Oussoren, will run the five-person management of Roots. The five-man team will use the coming period to refine the division of tasks, to have the companies integrate well and to optimize the processes. The most important thing is that management and employees of both companies now can use each other's expertise.

Prominent 2.0
From the membership of Prominent and the cooperation within Samax, the companies have already been working together. The merger is part of the Prominent 2.0 strategy, in which some Prominent colleagues previously preceded them with a merger. "This cooperation created the confidence and good feeling that we have found the right partners in each other to grow further together as Roots," according to Stefan. "The existing partnerships will continue to exist and also our current cultivations we will continue normally this year."

Roots is a member of Cooperative DOOR U.A. All sales and marketing activities of the DOOR cooperative are conducted through the sales subsidiary DOOR Partners BV. The entire production of Roots is marketed by DOOR Partners BV.
