Russian companies on growing strategies

Representatives of Rost company, Lukhivitskie ovoschi and Honey Cherry Tomato were recently shown in TV news, where they shared the varieties of tomatoes and other vegetables grown and expressed confidence that good crops are expected this year and that local produce will soon be able to replace imported produce.

The director of the National Union of Fruit and Vegetable Producers, Mr. Mihail Glushkov also took part in the show. He assured that the current dynamic growth of greenhouse production should continue. Mihail also mentioned that the main issue with the open field production is lack of storage facilities. Those are not built rapidly enough despite government support.

The expert added that with the current situation with COVID-19 the demand for greenhouse produce has dropped. He believes that after the situation stabilizes, it should take two to three years for the Russian Federation to complete import replacement for greenhouse vegetables.
