Pepijn de Jong, Levarht:

"There is still a lot of potential in Asia"

"Our company grew nicely in Asia in 2019. It was a good year for us," says Pepijn de Jong. He is responsible for Asian sales at the Dutch company, Levarht. "This expansion was mostly thanks to our fixed retail clients. They are in Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore. There we enlarge our assortment every year. We add new lines from different countries of origin. The year 2020 is looking promising too."

"We are now active in several countries. We also, for instance, keep abreast of developments when it comes to importing restrictions. We are well-aligned with various retailers and importers in some countries. Taiwan, Vietnam, and Thailand are a few examples of these."

"The current situation surrounding the coronavirus brings many challenges. Airfreight capacity is one of these. Added to this, different countries are, however, in (partial) lockdown. This makes for difficulties on the cultivation side. But retail sales have increased tremendously since the outbreak started at the beginning of the year. People quickly started panic buying. We are, therefore, doing everything in our power to keep supermarkets supplied with our nice, fresh products," concludes Pepjin.
