Corrie Hutchens of Pete’s:

“Our new butter lettuce wrap kits will help consumers prepare easy and healthy meals”

Greenhouse-grown hydroponic greens are the specialty of California-based company Pete’s. Now the company is expanding their offering and are launching Butter Stuffers, which are ready-made butter lettuce wrap kits. The product line is launching today, March 19th, on the US West Coast. Corrie Hutchens says: “The product has a shelf-life of fourteen days, so to ensure the freshness of the product we are starting our launch on the West Coast.”

The Pete's team was at Southern Exposure to promote the kits.

Rising popularity for ready-made meal kits
Ready-made healthy meals are something that has been gaining much popularity with consumers in the past years. Hutchens shares: “Of course, home delivery meal kits have been becoming really popular, but even these can sometimes be very time-consuming. We have been seeing an evolution even within the home delivery space toward more ready-made meals, which are more on-trend right now than ever before. Our Butter Stuffer kits are geared toward that: all the consumer has to do is open up the box, rinse the head of lettuce and assemble the wraps.”

The Butter Stuffer kits will be presented in three flavor varieties: Asian style chicken, Southwest style chicken and a California style chicken. “Each pack can make six substantial lettuce wraps and each of the butter lettuce heads has twelve usable leaves. We do recommend doubling up on the leaves to make the wraps sturdier, but the consumer has the choice of making the kit stretch to twelve wraps if they wish,” Hutchens says.

Consumer needs stay same, even amidst the crisis
Even though the we are all experiencing turbulent times right now, the company decided to move forward with the launch. Hutchens explains: “It is definitely interesting timing, but with everything going on the need of the consumer hasn’t changed, just the circumstances. With restaurants closing, and children being home from schools, it is more difficult than ever for families to meal-plan and find the time to prepare these meals. So, we believe that our butter lettuce wrap kits will be a great addition to anyone’s refrigerator right now – they don’t require any cooking, they are healthy and clean without any artificial ingredients. They are also restaurant quality, as we worked together with a chef to develop them.”

She adds: “Even during normal circumstances, people are busier than ever, and it has become more common for two people in the household to be working which means it has become increasingly challenging to figure out what to do for dinner. We have had to change up our language on social media a bit for the marketing for this product due to everything that is happening, but overall the message has remained the same: feed your family a healthy, delicious meal with ease.”

“The butter lettuce wrap kits boast around 40 grams of protein per kit, mostly due to the high quality white meat chicken. The dressing is created by our partner, Hak’s, a brand known for creating organic dressings with all clean ingredients and no added sugars. The kits will be available starting today, at a retail price of $10.99,” Hutchens concludes.
