A funny chemical smell, lights in the greenhouses in the evening and loading trucks in the middle of the night... The neighbours got a little suspicious. At the end of January 2018, the police raided the greenhouse. A lawsuit is what followed for the suspect, and now he's looking at up to 15 months in prison.
During the raid, no raw materials were found to make drugs, but according to the judge that is almost never the case. The suspect and co-suspect were caught red-handed. They stated they were paid to clean the place. Two other man escaped the police through a field behind the warehouse.
Kilos of cocaine
The Netherlands Forensic Institute made an estimation that the minimum amount of cocaine that was produced would be somewhere between 151 and 395 kilograms, based on the amounts of solvent mixtures and empty jerrycans of hydrochloric acid that were found. They can't make a statement about the amount of heroin that was produced.
The judge could not gather enough evidence for the production of cocaine and heroin, nor the formation of a criminal organisation according to the definition used in law practice. The suspect is punished for preparatory dealings for cocaine and heroin production.
