4.5 hectares of geothermal greenhouses to be built in Sakarya, Turkey

The Akyazi municipality in Sakarya, a city located in northwestern Turkey, is planning to take a significant leap in greenhouse production in the area. The municipality decided to build a “Greenhouse Excellence Center”, a 4.5-hectare geothermal greenhouse facility in the Kuzuluk area of the district.

The local mayor Ekrem Yuce: “This greenhouse will set up an example for all the growers in our district. 2.5 hectares of it will be used for hydroponic production whereas the rest will be used for traditional greenhouse production. We will offer training courses and seminars in the facility for our growers in the area and we will contribute to the regional economy by creating jobs and revenue. We will have year-round production and hopefully, the project will be included in the support coverage of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce’s support and funding program. The feasibility reports for the project are already prepared. We are awaiting the final approval for the project and then we will move onto the tender process for the construction of the greenhouses.”
