Russia: High-tech greenhouse to grow 20 tons of tomatoes per day

An ultra modern and almost fully computerized greenhouse complex continues to be built in Turovo, a village in the Serpuhov area. The locals cannot wait to taste the first crops and get a working place next to home.

Construction works are continuing. Engineering infrastructure has been installed and currently, metal construction montage and glazing are carried out. Electric and boiler stations are being started and the service area is being constructed. The local government of Serpuhov fully support the project.

The project owners expect high demand for the produce not only in the region but also around the country. They plan to install a pavilion in the center of Serpuhov, where locals could purchase fresh produce at wholesale prices.

The complex, with a planned productivity of 20 tons of tomatoes per day, will be equipped with climate control and lighting systems and will have a food control system implemented. Future employees have already had training in the Netherlands. Every associate would carry a special device showing what actions and at what time were performed.

“We have already employed about 100 associates. After the second phase is launched, we expect to hire another 100 people. We would aim at employing the dwellers of Turov”, mentioned the general director of the complex, Mr. Aleksandr Shahovets. The management believe that they will not limit themselves to 200 associates, as they are planning a further development of accompanying production units.
