"Growers are like poker players"

It is always a good idea to set new goals when approaching important deadlines concerning the planning of fruit and vegetable production.

"For the year 2020 - says Vittorio Gona, chairman of the Alba Bio Producers' Organization in Marina di Ragusa (RG) - our partnership has the objective of increasing product volumes by 10%. This is not a random choice, let alone dropped from the top by the OP, but a collective evaluation shared with our 30 producers".

Vittorio Gona.

"As in every year" - continues the manager - "production began with a good availability of goods and proceeds according to the schedule. It is clear that production is regulated on the basis of the agreements made with our Italian and foreign customers. We more than ever are programming with our business partners and, in the meantime, we are pleased to communicate that all the products we grow, listed in the calendar (see image below), are available. Every year we develop new crops and test new varieties in order to always have items that can make us stand out on the market, thus stimulating demand".

The Alba Bio Producers Organization is looking for new suppliers who believe in the cooperative's project, based on values that are identified in the tradition of a peasant culture, but which looks to innovation nonetheless.

"From some years now the farmer could be compared to a poker player, such is the economic risk of doing business, despite planning in detail for every eventuality. Agriculture, not only as an expression of natural cycles, continues to be subjected to variables that do not depend on the goodwill of those who exercise it. Numerous elements interfere with it: from plant diseases to climatic events, all the way to the complex dynamics of the market. The issue, increasingly felt among producers, is that of prices, which are not in accordance with investments and risk".

"Our organic product - concludes the chairman - is packaged in the packaging requested by the clients. Alba Bio can boast all the most important certifications. Today as yesterday, we place ourselves on the market as an international and national reference for the production and marketing of strictly organic products. We are equipped to reach every European market. We look forward to seeing you at Fruit Logistica, at the stand of the Region of Sicily and at the BioFach in Nuremberg, from 12 to 15 February 2020, as usual at the Sicily stand".
