Collaboration JASA, Euro-West and OTC Organics

"We are keeping the chain closed with dedicated organic packaging line"

Out of the last four Fruit Logistica editions, JASA and Euro West has toasted to new collaborations at three. This year it was in honour of an order from a dedicated-organic line that Euro West will use for its client OTC Organics for the packaging of organic fruit and vegetable products. The new line will be operational in May.

"In May of last year, we organised a packaging seminar together with OTC to see where the packaging market is going. The investment in this specific organic-line is an indirect consequence of this," says Marco Vijverberg, director of Euro West, which has been cooperating with OTC for almost twenty years.

Jasa, Euro-West and OTC Organics toast to the new investment

"At the moment the organic products are still packaged on the usual lines, but we saw that despite the efforts to clean the line, residues still remained on the packaging. That is no longer possible, also in view of the strict standards that the chain stores apply. We have decided with Euro West to make the move to a dedicated organic line. This is how we keep the organic chain closed," said Edward Out of OTC Organics.

The new organic packaging line will have four exits, two of which will be used for packaging in netlon packaging of biodegradable material. We are still looking at how the other two outputs can be used. "That flexibility is also an advantage. We can use it to package different fruit and vegetable products with different materials," says Marco.

According to Marco, choosing JASA was not difficult. "Besides that we have been working with them satisfactorily for years, sustainability is of paramount importance at JASA. You can see that in the Bag-2-Paper and sleeve solutions that they are now introducing here at the fair. In addition, they are a bit ahead in technology. We hope to take advantage of this line too."
