Day one is over and day two is underway at the IPM in Essen. Plenty of (floriculture) companies will be walking around with an extra big smile at the fair today after having been showered with awards, both on the Tuesday around noon and in the evening, when Anthura was proclaimed 'International Grower of the Year' during the AIPH presentation.

Although people have doubts about the combination of Fruit Logistica & IPM, many companies still are present and because of the snow the visitors arrive more early in the morning, making day one slightly slow in the afternoon but still an OK day.
Tight planning
However, there are concerns about the tight time between the IPM and the Fruit Logistica in Berlin next Wednesday to Friday. Once in a while that is the case, but those who looked at the calendar saw that it will be the same for the coming year(s).
Coronavirus
Another concern: the coronavirus. At the IPM yesterday, it was already noticeable that there were fewer Asian visitors (a first cautious estimate after day 1: 70% less), although this is due to Chinese New Year which is being celebrated this week. But it is feared that it will become a real issue at the upcoming fairs.

NPI is back at the IPM with this year's focus on the range of horticultural products, because in Friesland they make more than just film. On the photo: Erik van der Geest and Berber Bonnema.
Also today our team is running through the paths to collect as many photos as possible. Stay tuned for the photo shoot.
