Costa’s in Australia increasing its size with automation

When considering one of Australia’s largest wholesaler, distributor and exporter of fresh fruit and vegetables, the dynamic and entwined structure of the Viscon Group is able to support Costa’s Guyra tomato glasshouse expansion in 2020.

To better highlight this, Viscon Fresh Produce and Viscon Logistics are set to install a fully automatic 350+ pallet position ‘Matrix’ storage system and increased automatic handling processes for Costa’s Tomato Exchange location. The strategic decision to include this ‘Matrix’ system will allow Costa to optimize their already functioning post harvesting facilities, catering to their increase in production.

Aside from the ‘Matrix’ system, other upcoming functions surrounding this project include palletizing, depalletizing, strapping, shipment recall, non-food items storage and of course Viscon’s inhouse-developed software system to optimize the ‘Matrix’ system to ensure that the infeed and outfeed of products occur in a swift and timely manner.
