Cor-Jan van der Elzen joins PlantPaper as Sales Manager Europe

PlantPaper, manufacturer of biobased paper and machines for paper plugs, hired Cor-Jan van der Elzen as Sales Manager to expand the markets for PlantPaper in Europe.

Formerly of Modiform and Carbon Gold, Cor-Jan van der Elzen brings a wealth of horticultural sales experience and green knowledge to PlantPaper which is currently introducing its innovative biobased PlantPaper and paper plug machines to European propagation market.

Cor-Jan says, ”It’s really exciting to be joining a young and small company that’s offering a unique 100% biobased paper and innovative machines for own production of paper plugs. PlantPaper cares about our environment and offer unique products totally free of oil-based plastic.

"Some conventional papers in addition to wood fibers, also contain plastics to keep it stable. Sometimes even up to 40- 50- or 60% polyester. This plastic will become microplastic in the soil. For an example: By using 1 pallet of conventional paper at for instance 500kg, that contains 60% polyesters, then 300 kg polyester is left in the soil. Out of 300 kg polyester, you can produce up to 30,000 water bottles, this amount of oil based plastic does not belong in the soil.

“The last years I have focused a lot on environmentally solutions, and Plantpaper offer a truly ecofriendly solution for a unique biobased plug system, which I believe have a great future. With the help of biobased paper Europe’s propagators, growers and retailers are able to fulfil a consumer's wish in reducing microplastics in the horticultural chain”.

Carsten Storgaard, co-founder of PlantPaper, commented, "We’re really pleased Cor-Jan, a man of such enormous experience and network in the industry, has seen what we’re doing. And joined us to help introduce our products to the European market.”

PlantPaper’s paper products are naturally sourced and among others certified by EN13432, USDA, OK BIO, DIN and OK compost industrial and are used by propagators of bedding plants, cut flowers, green pot plants, olives and trees across Europe and the world.

Cor-Jan Van der Elzen will be representing PlantPaper at the IPM Essen, Germany at stand 3A17.
