Exhibitor Forum at Fruit Logistica will highlight food production in the Netherlands

At the annual Bayer Exhibitor Forum, experts from across the value chain address developments in the food production of a specific country or region. The Exhibitor Forum at Fruit Logistica 2020 will focus on the importance of collaboration to promote responsible food production and societal acceptance in the Netherlands.

Despite its relatively small size, the Netherlands has a thriving agricultural industry, thanks largely to its deployment of innovative agrifood technology. The nation’s agrifood sector is a sustainable source of healthy, safe food produced with responsible values and processes.

However, as with any other agricultural country, the Netherlands faces ongoing challenges. With growing urbanization comes increasing pressure to continuously deliver on sustainable and healthy food supplies. Several Food Chain Partnership initiatives in the Netherlands are meeting these challenges head-on with innovative approaches to soil analysis, crop management and biological treatments. At Fruit Logistica 2020, Bayer will showcase these successful collaborations with its partners and highlight the unique challenges of producers, processors, and retailers.

The title of the Exhibitor Forum is Food Chain Partnership in the Netherlands – Working together for responsible food production and societal acceptance. Paul Williams, Managing Partner at Paul Williams & Associates, will be the moderator once again, with the following speakers confirmed for the panel:

  • Jelte van Kammen, CEO Harvest House
  • Ernst van den Ende, Managing Director Plant Sciences Group of Wageningen UR
  • Hidde Boersma, Freelance science writer
  • Frank Terhorst, Head of Crop Strategy & Portfolio Management at Bayer AG
  • Jolanda Wijsmueller, Value Chain, Biologics & Minor Crops Manager at Bayer AG
  • Nico van Vliet, Trade Partnership Manager Benelux and DACH countries at Bayer AG

The Reception, taking place immediately after the Exhibitor Forum at the Bayer booth (Hall 1.2 / B-22), will focus on both the Netherlands and Belgium – celebrating years of successful cross-industry partnerships in these two countries, including authentic music and cuisine from the Benelux region.

Also this year, Veerle Mommaerts, Food Chain Manager at Bayer SA-NV, will be facilitating a discussion on innovation at The Fresh Produce Forum (February 5, 11:30–12:30 in the CityCube). Veerle Mommaerts will be looking at ways the food chain can continue to innovate in a globalized world.
