First smart greenhouse opens in Fushan District

Recently, the greenhouse of the Yantai Academy of Agricultural Sciences was officially opened in Fushan District. The greenhouse covers an area of 5,000 m2 and is mainly engaged to the intelligent research of tomatoes and strawberries as well as other crops and propagation. For Yantai, it's a unique project.

Of the project, 1,800m2 is dedicated to tomato research. This area is mainly used to demonstrate self-selected breeds and high-tech cultivation techniques of the Yantai Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

It is equipped with a Hoogendoorn climate control system, taking care of irrigation, heating, ventilation, cooling, etc. In the crop protection aspect, the focus is on full application of biological crop protection, making it possible to grow without any chemicals. As for tomato pollination, it is completed by bumblebees. Through the above measures, it is guaranteed that the tomatoes produced do not contain any hormones and pesticide residues.
