At Test Centrum Hoogstraten in Belgium, they are moving up. The strawberries that are being cultivated in the four-layered cultivation system of Glitch are being harvested, as company director Roel van der Bruggen shows on LinkedIn.
The test with the multi-layered cultivation is the successor of a previous experiment with two-layered cultivation and extra lighting. At the end of 2018, Test Center Hoogstraten started the construction of the meters high installation. Twenty-four rows for the strawberries were installed in the eight-meter wide greenhouse. Because of this, the cultivation surface is more than tripled. To compensate for the loss of light in the bottom rows, LED lights have been placed underneath the three top rows.
