The Fruit Attraction organization has awarded the Accelera prize in the Fresh Produce category to the breeder Rijk Zwaan for its Spicy Sparkle, one of the most important new products presented at the fair.
Spicy Sparkle is a new leafy vegetable that combines the best of lamb's lettuce and arugula. “It has a tender texture, but also a slightly spicy taste,” said Alberto Cuadrado, Chain Manager of Rijk Zwaan Ibérica, who stressed that it is ideal for the catering industry.
Rijk Zwaan has been present at Fruit Attraction with a wide range of new products which have something in common: they are all healthy products in which flavor and innovation prevail, both in terms of presentation and packaging, with a reduction in the use of plastic.
All of them, according to Cuadrado, meet the new market trends. There are convenience products, ready-made and packaged, ready for consumption; snacking products, which are booming at supermarkets; and products for on-the-go consumption. There is also a focus on reducing the use of plastic in containers and on the supply of local products.
The new on-the-go line includes the Deliquia RZ and Sugarino RZ cherries, the MyCubies snack cucumbers, which can be combined with other ingredients and used for dipping, the wraps with Lettuce Snack, currently being introduced in vending and airport stores; cauliflower florets of different colors for raw consumption, and new varieties of snack peppers; a fresh and tasty option adapted to the demands of consumers today.
Rijk Zwaan's flagship sweet pepper, the Sweet Palermo, is used as a premium ingredient for its Finest Veggies line of gourmet products and ready-to-eat products, which includes fresh Biosabor gazpacho, La Gergaleña hummus, or jam and paprika powder. All of them were showcased at the fair in Madrid.
Visitors to the fair had the chance to try the sweetest Sweet Palermo taste in the food truck located in the central hall, between halls 5 and 6.
