Friday, October 18, is the date of the first meeting of the tomato subgroup included in the Observatory of Fruit and Vegetable Markets launched by the European Commission. The goal is to make as much information as possible available to the European sector and improve its transparency.
In the tomato subgroup, which will be opened by general director Jerzy Plewa, the structure and functioning of the Market Observatory will be presented by the European Commission, and there will also be an analysis of the situation in the tomato campaign, taking stock of the 2019 summer campaign and looking into the prospects of the 2019/2020 winter campaign.
The tomato subgroup is one of four subgroups (citrus, tomato, stone fruit and pome fruit) created within the Economic Board of the European Market Observatory for Fruit And Vegetables. The observatory has the function of “providing online information, supplying a wide range of market data based on market analyses and short-term and medium-term prospects reports. At the same time, a board of market experts for each sector will meet regularly to discuss the situation and the market data.”
FEPEX, through FruitVegetablesEurope, will participate in the tomato, pome fruit and stone fruit subgroups.
