Photo Report: Fresh-Market 2019

With some big exhibitions coming up, like PMA and Fruit Attraction, one might forget there was also a trade fair going on in Poland. Although this exhibition takes place in a single hall and is definitely a lot smaller in size; there is a unique connection between retailers and traders through speed dating.

In the same hall about 25 companies had their stand to show their produce to any attending visitor that was interested. It's safe to say, however, the retailers pulled in the big crowd. So much even, that some of the stands were left empty for a while, as the exhibitioners did partake in the speed-dating themselves.

Although it's only been around for a couple of years, Esra from Aksun thinks it's a really good opportunity to get some closer contact with a variety of retailers. “We've been here since the very beginning of the event. We're even sponsoring the exhibition, as Poland is a big market for us and it's always good to show your face and your brand whenever these events take place. We love coming here.”

Every now and then one can hear numbers being shouted through a microphone. It's the call for traders that they have been matched with a retailer. The trader shows up, is taken to the meeting room and has a short period of time to convince the retailer of their produce. At the same time, there were multiple discussions going on at the conference stage. Mostly in Polish, but every now and then somebody would talk about their packaging in English.

One could not forget the big prize. Exhibitors can put forward a single product and have it voted on by the attendees. After the votes are counted, only one can be named the product-winner of Fresh-Market 2019. And this prize is definitely desired. All over the exhibition floor, standholders would ask visitors to vote for them, sometimes taking an aggressive approach by asking them to fill in the note immediately. It gave the exhibition a little extra to look forward to as a visitor, as you could walk by all the stands in a manner of minutes.
