Marijuana plantation located in tomato greenhouse in Spanish region of Cantabria

The Spanish Guardia Civil have located a marijuana plantation on an 8,000 square meter agricultural plot dedicated to the cultivation of tomatoes in the Cantabrian municipality of Corvera de Toranzo. The investigation started after verifying that, although tomatoes were being grown in part of the greenhouses, there was one of them in which there was no such production, and instead there was a strange movement of people, which made agents suspect that they could be using that space for illegal cultivation.

Eventually, the Guardia Civil decided to carry out an inspection of the farm in the presence of one of the people who usually frequented it. In the course of the operation, a marijuana plantation with 112 large plants in an advanced stage of growth was located in one of the greenhouses. These were all seized.

The search also led to the finding of several objects in a small warehouse for which it was not possible to prove their legal origin.

For all these reasons, four people will be charged as alleged perpetrators of a crime against public health.
