CAN (AB): Workshops highlight horticulture opportunities

Fruit, vegetables and greenhouses are the three topics covered at the October and November workshops in Lacombe.

“These workshops are a great way for new or potential horticulture producers to be more informed about the opportunities in fruit, vegetables or greenhouses industries,” says Robert Spencer, commercial horticulture specialist at the Alberta Ag-Info Centre.

The workshops will cover understanding market options and opportunities, industry demands, regulations and resources. Each workshop will feature a producer with an existing operation and a new venture coach.

“The workshops will provide participants the knowledge to make industry-entry decisions and learn about the economic realities of these industries,” he adds.

Each workshop takes place at the Lacombe Memorial Centre and runs from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Cost is $15 per person plus GST, and includes lunch and snacks.
