Protecting Tasmania from the Tomato Potato Psyllid

The much-feared Tomato Potato Psyllid first appeared in West Australia several years ago, and there was always the danger it would spread to the east coast. The psyllid caused massive problems to the New Zealand potato industry destroying crops, and growers there still have to manage the pest.

So far biosecurity officers report no sightings of the pest in Tasmania and are continuing their surveillance of potato crops. ABCnet.au has a 11min interview that shed some light on the matter.
