This year, the celebration of the Tomatina, one of Spain's most popular summer festivals, will be safe thanks to the work of 200 agents from the Civil Guard, the traffic and regional police, the dog unit and the mountain unit, who will work together with the Local Police, one hundred members of Civil Protection and 60 people working in private security. All this adds up to 300 people who, in addition, will receive the support of a command post created just for the occasion and a helicopter that will fly over the perimeter to obtain live images and address any issues.
Also, this year, the organization is backed by a group of volunteers and qualified personnel from the 24-hour regional center who will also help ensure the safety of the participants.
The Tomatina, which is holding its 74th edition this year, has already sold 10,000 tickets through the official website. In addition to the sale of tickets online (open until August 25), these can be purchased at the ticket office from Monday until the very day of the event, as the Council is making 2,000 physical tickets available for sale. In this edition, more than 145 tons of tomatoes are going to be used.
The mayor of Buñol, Juncal Carrascosa, is encouraging visitors to take advantage of their visit to Buñol to enjoy the town's festivities and the municipality's tourist amenities. She also highlighted the growing success of the Children's Tomatina, which will be held this Saturday at 12:00 for children under 14 years old in a limited, but free space, so that the youngest ones can also enjoy the festival.
